Introducing the new face of Microsoft Accessories…

Amy Davies - August 29th, 2014

AbbyTune in today to listen to award-winning author Abigail Tarttelin on radio stations across the country! Abby is the author of Golden Boy, the story of a beautiful teenaged boy with a big secret – he is intersex. For today only, Abby is the face of Microsoft Accessories, and will be discussing why typing literacy is so important for students and employers.

Abby says: “Microsoft’s ‘Typing Matters is a great campaign to be asked to support. The idea of advocating for typing literacy is timely, and as someone who invents about 5000 words of fiction a day at top speed, Microsoft thought I’d be the right person to talk about this. Writing Golden Boy happened in a furious haze of tapping at my keyboard. I love writing, I love being able to get ideas and words down as quickly as I think of them, and I love to inspire people to write. It’s my opinion that children, students and adults of all ages deserve to have confidence in their typing abilities, so that confidence is able to translate into the thought, ‘I can do this essay, I can do this dissertation, I can write this novel’. I’m going to be talking about the campaign all through the morning and afternoon on Friday 29th August on Sky News, BBC local radio, Radio Jackie and plenty more, and also on twitter @abigailsbrain and facebook at my Abigail Tarttelin page. Please come and say hi! You can also take a typing test here – let me know your results!’

Golden Boy is out now in paperback and eBook from W&N.
