We’re rolling out the bunting for the Diamond Jubilee celebrations this weekend. W&N have published a number of titles to commemorate this landmark event, covering everything from the life of the Queen to how to throw a street party!
Young Elizabeth by historian Kate Williams looks at the childhood of the young Princess Elizabeth, born as a minor royal, then thrust into the spotlight by the Abdication Crisis at the impressionable age of eleven. Williams uncovers how the princess’s upbringing helped to form the monarch she is today.
Shelley Harris’s debut novel, Jubilee has been getting great reviews, is a Richard and Judy Summer Book Club Pick and can be heard RIGHT NOW on Radio 4 as the Book at Bedtime. The novel starts at a Silver Jubilee streetparty in 1977 – the events at which go on to have ramifications for the central characters well into the present. It’s just out in paperback and is the perfect bank holiday read!
If you’re planning your own street party, or indeed any entertaining over what we hope will be a sunny and warm summer, and are in need of some inspiration, we have just the thing. Lifestyle guru Cherry Menlove has produced an exclusive ebook – Cherry Menlove’s Easy Jubilee – packed with tips from organising activities and games for children to making your own bunting!
From all of us at W&N have a wonderful long weekend.
